Hi all. I have at the moment a couple of control boards to repair that are basically timers, using LED IR detectors to trigger them. Given the state of the boards and the replace cost of these units from the manufactures it seem a good idea to re design them. This will inevitably be a lot cheaper as well. The main question is, is it feasible to use the analogue input of say a 16C622 to detect the ON state of an IR LED, instead of using a comparator. I ask this as a) I have not used the analogue input of a pic before and b) I know the current through the LED will only be some 40ua in its ON state. TIA, Philip Martin.
