Mike: For NJU 6355: 1. Data read in on rising edge of clock. Data output valid on rising edge of clock 2. Min clock pulse high is 0.5 micro sec; Min clock pulse low is 0.5 micro sec Min CE set up before clock rising is 0.5 micro sec. Other set up and holds are well under 0.5 micro sec. 3. CE (pin 5)must be HELD high for enable and I/O HELD high for write and HELD low for read. Hope this helps. Roger ----------------------------------------- What is a JOWETT JUPITER ? Date: Thu, 19 Mar 1998 13:04:33 -0500 Message-ID: <19980319.130436.3254.0.mkeitz@juno.com> I've got a few NJU6355 real-time clock chips but no real data for them. I have something working based on what little I could find on the WWW but I need to know a couple more things to be sure it's officially in spec: * When clocking bits in, does the chip take them on the rising edge of the clock or the falling edge? It appears that when clocking bits out, they change on the falling edge. * What's the maximum clock rate/setup time, etc? * Does the chip need the R/W pin held for the entire shifting sequence? It would be nice to be able to share it with Clock or Data, saving a PIC pin, but my preliminary experiments at that were not successful. Once I get this little "test program" in shape (it reads/writes the 6355 and presents the results in ASCII RS-232), I'd be glad to post it to the list or send it to someone to put on a WWW site. _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
