Also .... If you right click the link, Explorer gives you the option to
'Save Target As..' ( This is IE4 - I believe 3.xx was the same )

This lets you save to disk rather than fire up the default viewer - works
for all filetypes

 - Menu EDIT | PREFERENCES
 - Navigator | Applications
 - Search for Portable Document Format (PDF)
 - Edit
 - Click on SAVE TO DISK
 - Check the ASK ME BEFORE...
 - OK

This should fix your problem.
