It really depends on how you view things, I too like using interrupts. I had considered polling a pain. But I've learned when they're useful and when they're a pain. The RS232 example is a border line case, but I think that if the interrupts come too fast for interrupt driven code, what chance do they have with polled code? There is a place for each.
