I have two questions concerning the 12C508 PIC's. The first is the version it comes in. I had a look at the data sheet and under 'General Description' it says: ' The PIC 12C5XX are available in the cost- effective One-Time-Programmable (OTP) versions which are suitable for production in any volume.' On the same page under 'Applications' it says: 'The EPROM technology makes customising application programs extremely fast ...' I though OTP meant the thing could only be programmed once and that EPROM meant you could erase the thing and re-program it? Is the 12C5XX available in an EPROM version? The second question is, someone in New Zealand said that the 12C508 cost $1.20. Could that person please e-mail me privately and let me know where he's getting the chips from. I phone AVNET who are supposedly the MChip distributors and the said they cost $1.95 each.
