Hello to all.  I am VERY new to the pic enviornment!  Pretty much a
novice in the electronics in general.  But i think I can learn this :). I
am trying to gather Ideas and data for building a digital tachometer for my
car.  I plan on using the 16c84 for economical and technical reasons (I can
electronicly fix my mistakes! no uv needed).  If any one has any guidance
on electronic design of the Tach I would much appreciate any input.
     I was thinking I would probably use either the pos coil wire as the
signal(reduced of course) or an inducted sparkplug wire via halleffect
pickup.  I would like to get resolution of about 50 -100rpm which I would
like to output to a four character led display(7 seg).
        I plan on using some sort of c/compiler for the programming because I
am not very familiar with assembly code.  Any good beginners links would be
appreciated.
