The PIC will not be able to supply enough current to drive a stepper directly. If you are using a bipolar stepper, then the Motorola MC3479 is a nice chip. It has 350mA per coil drive capability. It is simple to use--one direction bit and one step bit is all it takes (you can also do half-stepping by using one more bit). It is available as a 16-pin DIP or a 20-pin PLCC. Keith Keith D.
