The usual way to stop Outlook 97 doing this is to create a personal address book entry for the list and make sure the Exchange rich text option is turned off in the properties for that address book entry. You may need to set the plain text option under advanced too. I know I did persuade it to send plain text with no attachment when I tried this. At least you aren't sending html only :-P Orin.
