I used NEC uPD6450, 6453 and so on in most of my video projects. They are pretty easy to use (easier than SGS's 5730 - I used that one also). The only problem with them - check with NEC in advance, because they have tendency to discontinue their parts without any notice. I am not sure I have extra databook, but I think you can download datasheets from NEC website. Good luck.
