The MAX218 and 212 say they are "true RS-232", whatever that means. And the 218 can run on as little as 1.8 volts, with 1.9 mA supply current. The 218, 563, 3222, and 3232 each have 2 transmitters and 2 receivers. Basically, if I were getting one, I'd opt for the MAX218. It can do 235 Kbps, and it requires 3 external capacitors.
