There's been a little discussion here lately about IRDA and such. Has anyone attemped 30-40K Baud communication at 500 feet???? I'm considering a wireless front end for my 16C63 MIDI light dimmer. http://www.mindspring.com/~jlittle/picstuff.html I would like to have a box with a MIDI in cable, a PIC for data encoding, and a few IR transmitters at the ends of a few 10 foot cables. Then you just point a transmitter in the general direction of the dimmer packs. Point two transmitters if it's a long distance. I can get 2400 baud at 150 feet, using Television style remote control receivers and a couple of 25mW emitters. I'm considering on/off keying with a 455KHz carrier so I can use common crystal filters in the receivers. Comments anyone? Joe Atlanta Ga. USA
