Can any one expain to me the difference between the stamp and pic?? The PICs are a familly of microcontrollers having moderately normal microcontroller-like features (except that they're small, cheap, and easilly obtainable in small quantities.) The STAMPs are pre-programmed PIC-based single-board-computers (very small boards) that store high-level-language bytecodes in a serial eeprom, and can therefore be programmed and re-programmed in that HLL (nominally BASIC) easilly from a "host" computer. It's a neat idea, somewhat akin to the old magnetic DRUM based machines, only a couple thousand times smaller. In addition, Parallax did a good job (IMHO) in coming up with a BASIC-like dialect useful for the sorts of things people use microcontrollers for. BillW
