A simple programmer-hw/assembler-sw for Macintosh to do
hobby projects with PIC16F8X is described in:

This is a development version and possibly dangerous to your
Mac if you do not make it carefully. I recomend testing the
system with your cheap old birdie-box (Plus/SE) (requires
system 7 though). I used PB160 with no problems.
