While looking at the schematic of a Heathkit I noticed their
interesting opto isolated RS232 interface (receive only).
TX from PC is connected through a 3.3K resistor to the anode of
the opto's LED. Cathode in connected to gnd. A reverse diode is
hooked accross the LED. Output of opto is standard NPN, this is
inverted.
