I use MPLAB 3.31 with and without an ICEPIC emulator.
I save the projects and to run and test simply double click
on the relevant xxxx.PJT file, which naturally opens the
project's text files and watch window.

I usually have several projects on the go at once - some with
pic 77 using the emulator, some with pic 84 using simulator
only.

Whenever I open the different xxxx.PJT project files, MPLAB
always retains the previous settings for the PIC type and the
type of emulation (and not those as used in the project)
thus making me have to keep changing the PIC and emulator/
simulator settings each time..

Is there any way of getting MPLAB to open different projects
such that it then resets the PIC type and emulator type to that
as previously used in each respective project.
