The price is only $5, but the board is a little odd-shaped. If you place the board vertically, with the display on top, it's about 3" high by 1" wide (the display is in the top 1") and the connector will be on the right side as you face the display. The connector's pins are L-shaped, bending to the right. If the shape does not pose a problem, these could be nice displays. If you use custom characters, you can show the times from 10:00 to 12:59 decently on one line; the other line could be used for AM/PM, seconds, or whatever you wanted. If you want to regard the display as a bitmap, think of it as 23x16 with columns 5, 10, and 15; and rows 7 and 8, missing. But if you can work your display requirements around that you should be able to produce some cute results.
