We use the Mil version on the 1Mbit X28C010 parallel EEPROM (organised
as 128K x 8) with a 16C74.  Apparently Xicor also does a 32K x 32 module
(XM28C010P) - maybe you can find something in between.  (Or use 2 of the
X28C010 like we do.)
