To All, I think I may have got the wrong idea about the thrust of this group. I had the idea that group members would enjoy the challenge of "Extracting the most from the least", exploiting the potential of readily available and inexpensive technology by application of grey matter before resorting to the credit card? If this is "Doing things the hard way", I'm in favour of it. God gave me a brain so I figure I owe it to Him to use it to the best of my ability. It also consumes a lot of my energy intake and I have to carry it around, so it can damm well earn its keep. Those who simply purchase solutions, mostly, have not defined or solved the problem and probably can't in any case. Instead, they rely on convincing their client that "If all this cutting edge technology doesn't work, then it must be his/her fault" (ie, the Bullshit Baffles Brains philosophy). For those of us not blessed with public service budgets or clients with more money than sense, the only solution is to solve the problem using God given assets and to my knowledge, "God don't give credit". Personally, I get off on achieving my goals the "hard" way. It's nice to play with the latest high end solutions on offer, especially at someone else's expense. It seems wasteful to me, if the potential of the existing technology has not been understood, realised and exploited. It's almost like "Out-sourcing reasoning and intelligence" in favour of "Fantastic Plastic". Of all the mail resulting from my original on opto devices, only ONE had a constructive comment to offer. To that person and all the others who have offered constructive comments to my queries, I send a real big "Thank You". Now I'll go to find some more speed from those opto sensors using what God put between my ears and leave the non-contributory band width wasters to play with what He put between their legs. Bye all, Bill PS. Members might like to try this approach. I know most do already. "IF YOU CAN'T SAY SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE, SHUT-UP!"
