In this months Everyday Practical Electronics (February 98) the magazine contacted MicroChip's UK office - they deny that the 16C84 is being deleted, or any other chips in the PIC range. So who knows?. Anyway, the F84 can be programmed with exactly the same hardware as the C84, the only differences are minor ones in the programming software - to do with the Power-Up Timer bit, and the code protection bits. It's quite possible to program the F84 using the C84 software - with a bit of thought. For a good quality programmer try 'http://www.dontronics.com', the circuit and software can be downloaded, and high quality PCB's are available. There is various software available, including DOS and Windows versions which support the 16F84. -- Nigel. /--------------------------------------------------------------\ | Nigel Goodwin | Internet : nigelg@lpilsley.demon.co.uk | | Lower Pilsley | Web Page : http://www.lpilsley.demon.co.uk | | Chesterfield | | | England | | \--------------------------------------------------------------/
