I've got a problem trying to program 12C508 PICs with my PIC 1a programmer.
After wiring up the appropriate 8 pin adapter required to accommodate the
12C508, I get an error every time I run the PIC12CR.EXE program. It finds
the hardware, asks me to insert a PIC into the socket and when I hit enter,
it immediately says PROGRAMMING ERROR and quits. It writes nothing to the
PIC at all.

What's going on? Is there an additional hardware change I need to make?
