Oh, I like the way this is turning out.... Actually I think Andy is quite right, one input and one output at the same time are easy to manage, especially if you are as smart and experienced as he is. If you are willing to accept a few inconsistencies here and there, even a regular mortal could do a decent job of it, either with interrupts or not. Only recently have R/C car speed controls gotten really good, the older ones were low frequency and synchronized with the incoming pulse train.
