Folks, I need to build a sound FX generator and/or jingle player. I thought the best way to do this was to burn the tracks onto a CD-R and then simply play the required track back. I don;t have a cd player that I can program to have a set of buttons that will play a single track (or part of). So I though heres an ideal project for a PIC. I have two old cd-rom drives (both 2 speed - but thats irrelevant as I only want to play audio). One is a Creative (Panasonic) with the panasonic interface and the other is a Sony with the Sony interface (they both originally came with the interfaces on SB16's so I don't have the interface cards). Does anybody know where I can obtain the interface specifications either of these drives. I only need a few functions (all audio):- Play, Stop & Select a track (and it would be nice to select a starting and finishing frame on the track as well). If anybody has already done this sort of thing It would be nice to talk off-line about it.
