Happy Holidays. I need to control 4 motors and about 10 solenoids and also have a 2 or 4 line LCD and a number key pad as user interface. 2 of the motors must be stepper motors (peristaltic pumps) and the other 2 controlling x,y movement can be steppers or servos. I was planning on using modified RC servos with a 10 turn pot for the x,y because they are cheaper than stepper units. I need help with the following: Could a PIC handle all this and if so, which one would be best suited? I have very limited experience with the 16F84 only. How stable and durable are the 10 turn pots realistically? Will they break or drift after a few thousand cycles? If they drift, how complex would it be to design code that will initialize the 2 servos to a predetermind point and then go from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
