Dear Hamish:

You are certainly a brave soul to tackle a new processor type with such
a short leash to the deadline! I first encountered PIC's about five
years ago and had no idea how very quirky these (C57) parts could be. I
certainly could have used the piclist then!

My advice would be to get a good compiler and a downloader, then start
developing shorts hunks of code that do simple things well. Hopefully
you've already got the rest of your hardware in good shape!

Let me know if you have any specific questions and can't get your local
help (good idea, worth a lot for the right helper) or you both get
stuck.
