I've changed my code in the way you recommended.

Nope. Now I'm quite sure that they are working in the same way.

I told this sentence to a german microchip-guy several months before. They
had no real solutions, only some hints like "maybe it could ..., but I'm not
sure". The easiest way to confuse microchip ? Ask them for the SSP-Unit,
especially I2C.
