My fathers uncle worked for a vending machine company. He told me about all the problems in development. They tried the weight thing back in the 50's when the workers in the factories figured it out, they stuck funnels with hose on them in in place of the cups and would empty the machines for a nickel. AH the ingenuity of factory worker with time on their hands.
