I'd like to capture codes from an IR remote, modify them, and transmit them to a satellite receiver, VCR, and TV. I've seen various capture circuits that connect to a PC and/or a PIC but I've been unable to find the articles. I've searched Circuit Cellar Ink and Electronics Now. Any references would be appreciated. My particular application would capture codes from an RCA DSS DRD505 (3rd generation) receiver IR/UHF remote. It would display the current remote mode (DSS/VCR/TV) on a LED dot-matrix display. (ie: D/V/T). When in the VCR or TV mode, it would map a few remote buttons to device-specific functions (ie: "MENU/SELECT" would bring up the VCR "PROGRAM" mode). I'm using the standard Sharp/Radio Shack 40Khz IR front-end. It's one thing to look at the output on the scope and to implement a simple logic analyzer on a PIC or PC... I'd prefer to analyze the codes on the PC. I have a good idea how to do this but I know this has been done before. Again, any help would be appreciated. Thanks, - Tom
