I have long said that 9 out of 10 patents are bogus (really not unique
ideas/solutions but merely typical/common implementations) and
should not be issued.  Perhaps I need to update that to 99 out of 100.
The result is (in addition to those mentioned above) that the value of
legitimate patents is minimized (and the cost maximized).  But on the
plus side, most all companies pay their employees patent bonuses...
