Exactly.  Take an old idea, give it a new name, try and promote it as
something revolutionary.  "Virtual Peripherals" have been implemented on
processors much less powerful than PIC, as well as much more.  Other than
a faster chip and a ton of marketing hype, there is nothing new under the
sun.
