A pocket protector is like a secret symbol of membership to the 'geek
brigade'.  The primary function is to stop absent minded tech-heads from
marking their shirt with the uncapped sharp end of their pens when
'looking' for their breast .pocket.

I can't believe that an electronics 'person' hasn't 'heard of them !!!!
