It wouldn't surprise me if you need to connect both power and ground pins. I had a 68HC11 project where I used a pin that had multiple power and ground pins. I forgot to connect one of the power pins and it took me a long time to figure out why I couldn't read from the on-board A/D. Then I hooked up that extra power pin and voila, A/D worked fine. --Anil
