Or, if you happen to be in Japan don't miss Akihabara.
Several square blocks of all things electronic.  From
mom & pop resistor (or capacitor or connector) vendors
to large PC/video/calculator/etc./etc./etc. stores.
There are several stores that are like Radio Shacks
only with more stuff in a smaller space.  You can get
it all in Akihabara.  I spent the summer in Tokyo and
going to Akihabara was always a treat.
