Zack, I fear that you will be dissapointed. I cannot speak specifically about that area, I've been there but I didn't look closely for electronics stores. Most electronics in the US comes quietly through mail order houses and distributors. UPS is the main artery for parts. It is unfortunate, and some of my fellow countrymen may disagree, but interest in math, science, and technical skills is apathetic. Most of the people that I know, friends, wife, etc., get a glaze over their eyes if you mention the words crank shaft, resistor, hammer, whatever. You get the point. Ham radio has become a hobby of purchased equipment. The one event where you might have a good time is at a Hamfest. I just cruised through an issue of Nuts and Volts, and it appears that there are two events in Florida. The one in Coral Gables is on Nov. 15-16, call Walt at 305-895-0398. The second is on Nov 22-23 in Tampa, call Jean at 813-525-5178. Keep in mind that Florida is harder to cross than you think. It can take hours to cover what looks like a few miles on the map. Than again, the next time you are in Korea, go to Yong San Junja Sang Ga (Electronics shopping district). I am sure it will impress you. I've never been to Hong Kong, I'll venture that that would be truly impressive. Chris Eddy Pioneer Microsystems, Inc.
