I don't know the 16c77, but perhaps MPLAB doesn't like "_", or it uses
only the first 4 characters in recognizing labels.

I suggest using different labels:

  DATA            equ     PORTD
  TrisDATA        equ     TRISD
  CNLTDATAT       equ     TRISE
