I've got a 16x2 module made by Powertip which also has 16 pins.  Two of
these are not used.  Looking at it from the front, they are numbered as
follows:
     o  o  o  o  o  o  o  o  o  o  o  o  o  o  o  o
     14 13 12 11 10 9  8  7  6  5  4  3  2  1  16 15

Where 1 - Gnd
      2 - Vdd
      3 - Vo
      4 - RS
      5 - R/W
      6 - E
      7 to 14 - DB0 to DB7
      15, 16 - NC
