I'm the process of using two 1200 baud modems that I aquired for about $15. And 4 walkie talkies one set transmitting in the 27Mhz range and the other in the 49 Mhz band. One set would be for transmitting and one set for recieving. There seems to be no interferrance between them. The idea is this, since the modems use a 600 ohm ctr tapped xformer you can use two 300 ohm to 4 ohm xformers. Feed the 4 ohm windings to the 27mhz and 49mhz walkies (speaker connection). Set one walkie to transmit and the other to recieve.(You'll have to make Two complete sets) Connect the modems to your computers and use a standard terminal program to test. This might work over short distances. It's just food for thought. Have Fun Eric Naus
