Hi all, I have been building some stuff using the built in USART on the PIC16C65A and PIC16C67. I am having some _STRANGE_ trouble, though. If I write code that does an interrupt driven loopback at 115200 on the C67, It works on my 486DX and Pentium 200. However, when I take it to two of my friends' houses and try to use it on their computers, a 486SX and Pentium 100, many of the characters come out garbled. I also made a device which used a PIC16C65 running at 38400 in low baud rate mode (BRGH=0). It ran fine on both of my computers, as well as an 8088 laptop, but for some reason it has difficulty with both of those other two computers (the 486SX and Pent 100). Both of these computers have known working serial ports. I am using a MAXIM serial comverter chip, not some jury-rigged level converter scheme. I'm not sure if the problem is in RX only,TX only, or both. Anyone have any suggestions or experience similar problems? Thanks, Sean Sean Breheny,KA3YXM Electrical Engineering Student
