American electronics magazine, POPtronix, recently featured a very appealing circuit for a self calibrating L/C meter that can measure inductance in the range of 0.001 to 100uH and capacitance in the range of 0.01pF to 1uF. It is based around a PIC16C61 and the circuit is quite simple. I am really keen to build this meter. This is a really worthwhile device that can easily be build from spare parts lying around in any workshop. It consists of only 3 IC's namely a PIC16C61, LM311, LM78L05 and a common 1 x 16 char LCD display. Apparently the source code is available from the Electronics Now BBS (516-293-2283 N81) under a filename LCM.ZIP. I tried to access the BBS, but were unsuccesfull. Also, telephone calls from South Africa to BBS's in the USA tend to be rather expensive. This is an appeal to anyone on the Piclist who has also build this circuit, or would like to do so and are in easy reach of downloading the source from this BBS. If you can download the source code for me, then I will scan the article and email it to you. Please contact me in private in order not to waste any more list space.
