     I have been building electronic scales using
     PIC's for a dozen years.  All of these scales
     have been built using strain gauge sensors.

     There are a few points you should clarify:

       - what is the maximum capacity of the scale.
       - what is the dead load of the scale.
       - how many graduations are required.
       - how is the load to be applied.
       - what is the nature of the load.

     Please don't underestimate the difficulty of
     building an accurate and robust load sensor!
