Gary: The Embedded Systems (not "Embedded Control") Conference is pretty cool... If you're serious about embedded systems design and can afford to go (or can convince your company to send you), you should make an effort to attend. You have two options: You can register for a three-day series of seminars and workshops (which costs somewhere between $500 and $1500; I forget how much, exactly), or you can just get a free "exhibits-only" pass. I've done both; if you can take the time and have the money, the three-day thing is probably worth doing at least once, but the exhibits-only deal is pretty interesting, too. All the exhibitor booths fit in one hall. They're all targeted toward our little engineering niche, though, so you'll probably find yourself interested in a much larger percentage of the booths than you would be at the really huge shows like Comdex or CES. Even so, you can walk the entire exhibit hall in less than a day. If you're only going to attend one day, I recommend going on the day that Motorola has their big party, and scheduling your return flight late enough that you can attend it. -Andy P.S. I'll be there this year (on the "Motorola Party" day); if anyone wants to get together and have a beer or whatever, let me know in private e-mail. === Andrew Warren - fastfwd@ix.netcom.com === Fast Forward Engineering - Vista, California === http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/2499 === For PICLIST help (including "unsubscribe" instructions), === put the single word "help" in the body of a message and === send it to: listserv@mitvma.mit.edu
