Hi Sean, I have one overelft VLSI-1170 chip, it is an integrated CCD and serial/parallel interface, hookup few caps and resistors and ready to go with PIC's. there is info about it somewhere on the net, if you find it is suitable for you then it is free for a good home. I paid 60 USD for it, but it is (as we have heard) discontinued so I am bit tired of it. Its in my drawer laying around. As of info Atmel announced (24 jul) that they will co-op with Polaroid, I suppose to make same sort of CCD chips.
