>Hi Folks, > > I haven't seen it here yet, but I thought I'd point out that on Microchip's > web page they've got a 76 page .pdf file entitled "Future Products". > To summarize, in this they list a bunch of new products including: > Enhanced 8-Pin Devices (with EEPROM) > Mixed Signal Devices > EEPROM/Flash Parts capable of running up to 20 MHz >EEPROM/Flash Parts that will replace the current EPROM line > - These parts include built in Reset and the 12C5xx's RC Oscillator > - Big YAY on this one - You will be able to get 16 I/O on an 18 Pin Device > Upgraded Serial EEPROM Products > MPLAB C v2.xx > MPLAB ICE a cheap(er) ICE? One thing that was not mentioned in the message above is the fact that it appears that some of these new devices may be using a new architecture, namely the 16C164/165/174/175/176/177/178/179/185. According the future products document these devices have (among other things): - C-Compiler optimized instruction set - Linear program memory addressing to 128K byte - Linear data memory addressing to 4K bytes - Software stack capability I would be interested to know what the instruction set and architecture of these devices look like.
