Hence, if on 'reset' you are missing the RAM contents, your power up sequence is initializing your RAM. This of course you control so you might be able to re-write this to recover if this is what is happening. I believe there is a M.C. APP note that uses this to its advantage to do a sort of software watchdog/brownout type of circuit. Of course, as Andre points out, if your exceeding the temperature limits of the part, all bets are off.
