I have been using OrCad SDT (Dos version of the OrCAD schematic pkg) since the days when the word Hercules brought awsome video cards to mind. Therefore I may be a bit biased (I'm also starting to show my age). I use the DOS version Orcad for schematic entry, and the DOS version of PADS for PWB layout. Both tools are behaved enough to work reliably in Win95. I am very satisfied with the capabilities of both packages. I have never been unable to produce exactly what the customer wanted because of limitations in the CAD tools. I am sometimes forced to use the Win95 versions of Orcad schematic tools. I find the windows version Orcad extremely frustrating, and non-productive. The windows version of PADS (PPERFORM) is tolerable, but their POWER-PCB product is a joke. They went backwards 20 steps in productivity to add a few features I don't even need. Unfortunatly most CAD tool companies have already fallen to the dark side (windows). The above ranting is my own personal opinion, and may not be the opinion of my employer. Joe Little Atlanta Ga.
