We use the windows version of Protel and are very happy with it. However, any capable schematic, pcb, and router software is very large and complex. You should evaluate all packages of interest to you. The DOS version of Protel mentioned on this list has not been under development by Protel for several years and I believe is freeware available at www.protel.com.
