We are working on the latest generation of devices in communications field. Some of our hardware require custom high speed interface that can be controlled by the PC. We would like to contract out for some of those designs. The data rates are typically around several microsecond range (fastest one is 1/2 microsecond). However, many different processes (and interfaces) are required to carefully time the way the data is sent/received. Some are high speed analog data which require interfacing to a DAC, and other serial data may require RS232 buffers (such as MAXIM parts). The final design should include both the software (source code) and hardware (completed circuit for a demo as well as documentation on making more units.) At such speeds of I/O, I estimate that a 16C74 running at 20 MHz and an external DAC should be sufficient. However, other types of microcontrollers, SBC, DSP, reconfigurable computing devices, or other hardware may be used. The design should be well documented so that we and our customers can understand its operation and modify it for thier needs.
