1. Warp3 has 3 ZIF sockets (18 pin, 28 pin, 40 pin) as standard. Seeing that ZIFs cost between 8 to 20 US dollars EACH, I figured that the cost for Warp3 and PICStart was about the same cost, sans the hassle of changing the socket. 2. Ability to support all low and midrange PICs (16C5x, 16Cxx, 14000, and 12x). 3. Warp works through the serial port rather than the parallel port. I have two serial ports, but only one parallel port that is used by the tape back up and the printer. 4. Except for that problem few nights ago, I'm generally pleased with Warp3 and their software updates (use beta 10 instead of beta 3 or 3.10), although they came out withe a new version that they claim is "better" at 12x support.
