Yea, I get that too. The "Error Opening HEX File" I think, only happens if
you havne't compiled at least once, or if there was an error compiling.

When you open a project, it only opens the files that were open
when you closed and saved that project.  So if you closed all your files
before exiting mplab and saving your current project, then when you open
your project the next time, it won't open any files.
