Maxim makes some video crosspoint arrays.  I think they use a SPI
interface, which some PICs have out  of the box, or you can simulate with
software.

For instance, the MAX456 is an 8x8 video crosspoint switch.  This may be
what Mr. Hagberg was refering to (below)...
