How can the Microchip news server _not_ be accessible thru your provider?
If you have a standard (PPP or SLIP) access to the internet, you just
direct your news reader to the given address, and you get there. Your
provider does _not_ have to carry these news groups.

There's not much traffic there, though... :-(  But thanks for the tip. I
probably will increase the traffic there once in a while :-)
